Yet the house is also the setting for dinners with friends and parties where women dance in miniskirts, and the courtyard is animated by donkeys, geese, dogs, iguanas and even two baby crocodiles which Morris took from the Nile. But behind images of light-heartedness and games is a military-style education, expanding in all areas of life from cooking to working in the vegetable garden. Then Andrew is born and a few years later, the death of a young British woman from Eilat leads the Morrises to adopt little Dolly, who, despite the difficulties of adopting at the time, becomes an integral part of the family. In short, they assimilate, all the while remaining "still British," as they say, with good manners and tea at 5, but still remain somewhat outside of the dominant Israeli culture of the era, which does not particularly like the subjects of the Crown ( English soldiers prevented entry for the immigrants and sided with the Arabs).īorn first is Aviva, suffering from Down syndrome, then Uni, and the two siblings spend all their time together until Aviva dies of pulmonary complications at the age of 6. This is in response to a 2015 study done by the city's Transportation Department which found that metered parking was occupied at 97 percent capacity during the daytime hours and at 85 percent Wednesday nights in many areas. ![]() RELATED | Austin to Create Permanent Event Parking Ban in 3 Neighborhoodsīut this proposal would extend those hours of metered parking an extra two hours until 8 p.m. ![]() Right now, if you're parking in the downtown area on a Wednesday - that's from I-35 to Lamar Boulevard and Lady Bird Lake to 10th Street - you only have to pay to park from 8 a.m. The City Council will consider a proposal to help out that problem, but it could impact your wallet. This year, Four Roses sought out to create an offering to elevate the date-night-in and make restaurant quality drinks and meals right at home. I’ll have tasting notes below, but here is what the PR firm had to say:įour Roses was built on a 134 year old love story, making the bourbon the perfect spirit to toast with on Valentine’s Day. So, how does this salt taste? What makes it different than other salts that you might have on hand? Well, it is sweet. There is evidence that it is nothing more than a legend, but what would be the fun in that? And besides, Valentine’s Day is coming up soon. And, as the legend has it, she did just that. He asked her to wear a corsage of four roses to the ball if she was going to accept his proposal. Now, why did I bring up romance at the beginning? Well, as we all know, the foundation legend of the Four Roses brand involved a young man who was looking to marry a young lady. Starting on December 31, 2020, the unmanned aircraft regulation in the European Union whereby the first step for a drone operator/ remote pilot would be to register in the country in which they live, or have their main place of business. The year 2021 was a rather influential year for drone regulation for the drone industry given the regulations that would finally enter into force. The ICAO further distinguishes between autonomous aircraft and remotely-piloted aircraft (RPA), and anticipates that only RPA "will be able to integrate into the international civil aviation system in the foreseeable future". In 2011, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) of the United Nations published Circular 328, which states that a UAS should demonstrate equivalent levels of safety as manned aircraft and thus meet relevant government rules for flight and flight equipment. The UAS consists of an UA, a remote pilot station and the command, control and communications links that join them as such, safety considerations address all of these elements. In most cases, the unmanned aircraft (UA) can only be operated as part of a system, hence the term “unmanned aircraft system” (UAS). For the complex electronics that provide communication and control of these systems, this means a swift move towards compliance with DO-178C and DO-254 for software and hardware development. As myriad certification agencies scramble to keep up with the unique demands of this fast-growing industry, one thing is clear – where applicable, pertinent certification standards for manned aircraft are starting to apply. One of the main barriers to rapid full-scale growth of commercial unmanned aircraft is the concern for safety. MQ-9 Reaper in flight (2007) Certification aspects As of January 2022, several countries are working on new regulations, ranging from BVLOS (beyond visual line of sight, or BLOS) operations to UTM (unmanned traffic management) activities, which include the US, the EU, India, South Korea, Japan, and Australia among others. France was among the first countries to set a national framework based on this report and larger aviation bodies such as the FAA and the EASA quickly followed suit, which eventually led to influential regulations such as Part 107 and Regulation (EU) 2019/947. ![]() Nevertheless, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) began exploring the use of drone technology as far back as 2005, which resulted in a 2011 report. The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones, is generally regulated by the civil aviation authority of the country. ![]() Being so fair, this concealer won’t work as either a highlighter or contour for me, as the darker shades of it are far too warm for me to be able to use them like that, but I would like to know if you have been able to use this concealer in that way. ![]() The shades do tend towards the yellow side of the spectrum, even the ones described as being neutral, but fair beige does have a pink undertone, and Fair Rose is described as having that too. One of my biggest problems with finding base products, is that when brands do make a shade light enough for my skin, it is always very yellow based, and that just doesn’t work with my very pink skin tone. I do however really appreciate that they created shades with varying undertones. It’s disappointing that they aren’t, as very fair shades and deep shades are very rare finds in affordable concealers here, so there is absolutely a gap in the market that needs to be filled. I’m unsure why these shades aren’t available in Australia. There is one shade lighter than the Aus shades, Fair Rose, and 8 shades darker than the Aus shades, Tan Walnut, Tan Latte, Deep Olive, Deep Chestnut, Deep Cinnamon, Rich Chocolate, Rich Cocoa and Rich Ebony. In the USA, the Camo concealer is available in 18 shades. The large doe foot applicator of the ELF 16HR Camo ConcealerĮLF’s Camo Concealer is available in 9 shades in Australia, Fair Warm (fair with yellow undertones), Fair Beige (fair with neutral undertones), Light Sand (light with neutral undertones), Light Peach (light with rosy peach undertones), Light Beige (light with golden beige undertones), Medium Peach (medium with peach undertones), Medium Sand (medium with neutral undertones), Medium Beige (medium with golden beige undertones) and Tan Sand (tan with olive undertones). I do use the smallest amount that I can to cover the area, as it can start to look a little bit cakey if too much is applied. I do really like to use it on red spots, blemishes and hyper-pigmentation. Being matte, it will emphasise any flaky areas or dryness, so I don’t like to use it under my eyes. It is a product that I have to use a makeup remover, or double cleanse to remove at the end of the day, as it stays on my skin really well. The ELF 16HR Camo Concealer is matte and long wearing. It’s not a deal-breaker though, I just wipe the applicator off on the neck of the tube before applying the concealer. I personally prefer a smaller doe foot applicator, as I would prefer to put less product on, and dip back in for more, rather than apply too much. It comes with a large doe foot applicator that has an indent on the end, to collect the maximum amount of concealer with each dip. It is also available from the ELF USA website for US$5. Each tube contains 6 ml of product and is available on the ELF Australia website for A$15, or on shelves in Kmart Aus stores for A$10. It’s also supposed to be highly pigmented, light weight, matte and won’t sink in to fine lines or creases. ![]() The 16HR Camo Concealer from ELF is described as being a full coverage, 16 hour wear concealer that can conceal, correct, contour and highlight. Competing hypotheses suggested to explain the observed environmental shifts range from global abiotic changes that occurred over kilometre scales to biotic factors acting over local scales (metre to kilometre), and include organism interactions such as burrowing and/or predation. ![]() The extent to which animals themselves drove these global changes is a matter of considerable debate. The diversification of early animals coincides with dramatic perturbations in the global environment, including changes to carbon cycling and a progressive but dynamic oxygenation of the oceans. 580–520 million years ago) is one of the most remarkable intervals in the history of life on Earth, witnessing the rise of macroscopic, complex animals in the global oceans. The Ediacaran–Cambrian transition (approx. Our results provide quantitative support for the ‘Savannah’ hypothesis for early animal diversification-whereby Ediacaran diversification was driven by patchiness in the local benthic environment. Higher species richness in shallow-water Ediacaran assemblages compared to deep-water counterparts across the studied time-interval could have been driven by this environmental patchiness, because habitat heterogeneities increase species richness in modern marine environments. ![]() The local patchiness within shallow-water communities may have been further accentuated by the presence of grazers and detritivores, whose behaviours potentially initiated a propagation of increasing habitat heterogeneity of benthic communities from shallow to deep-marine depositional environments. Shallow-marine (nearshore) palaeocommunities were heavily influenced by local habitat heterogeneities, in contrast to their deeper-water counterparts. ![]() The studied palaeocommunities exhibit marked differences in the response of their component taxa to sub-metre-scale habitat heterogeneities on the seafloor. To investigate how broad-scale environment influenced the community ecology of early animal ecosystems, we employed spatial point process analyses (SPPA) to examine the community structure of seven late Ediacaran (558–550 Ma) bedding-plane assemblages drawn from a range of environmental settings and global localities. The broad-scale environment plays a substantial role in shaping modern marine ecosystems, but the degree to which palaeocommunities were influenced by their environment is unclear. ![]() Still not finding anything I used a super simple application Thomas Davis had which was just a view that bound a prompt to click events, like this. ![]() I did find a few backbone.js tutorials and started going through two of them to compare to my app, trying to find the problem. I clicked through to the examples and found that Jérôme Gravel-Niquet created a Todo List application that came with the annotated source. ![]() I read the short introduction to backbone.js but it wasn't that useful, just an executive summary of the project. Pretty simple to model and much more interesting than yet another todo list. Then there are calculations that can be done on individual or groups of objects: average pace, total distance in a month, speed trends, etc. The runs are collected into a Running Journal which is just a time based collection (Array). You have an object (a Run) with data attributes about the run. For those who don't know, many runners keep track of each run in a journal so they can see progress and spot any problems in training. While running I had the idea of building apps that would record my running, like a running journal. In previous weeks I've done a todo list but todo lists are overplayed. App Ideaīefore I get into what happened, I wanted to write about the new app idea I'm going to try building. Unfortunately, the session was worthless. Of all of the technology I've been wanting to learn, backbone.js has been the one I've been the most interested in. In other words, the data is retrieved from the database, filtered, then returned to the application. This post is part of my weekly tech learning series, where I take one hour each week to try out a piece of technology that I'd like to learn.įor this week's tech learning session I decided to tackle backbone.js. We felt strongly that Collections needed to preserve these conventions while employing the SPA particularly because so many plugins use these mechanisms.Ĭollections relies on this data being prepared on the server before being sent back to the client side application. Furthermore, WordPress shortcodes can be saved within a post’s content, which are transformed to content when printed. This is a popular way for plugins to change post content as it does not permanently change the content. Due to filters, the data can be altered via PHP code, which allows the final state of the data to be different than its original state in the database. In WordPress, data in the database is not the final form of that data. We specifically decided to build a limited JSON endpoint into Collections because we wanted to increase the probability of plugin compatibility in the theme. Since WordPress does not provide a JSON API, a JSON endpoint was created for use with Collections. When a new page is loaded in the Collections Single Page Application (SPA), an AJAX request is made to the server, which returns JSON data that is sent to a JavaScript (JS) template and rendered on the page. ![]() In this post, I will discuss some of the measures we took to increase the probability of plugin compatibility in Collections. Backbone.js and Collections: Plugin compatibilityĮnsuring plugin compatibility within the Single Page Application in Collections was a major challenge. ![]() “Nine people say, ’I’m a counselor working with individuals, families and couples,’ and one person says, ’I work with newly divorced fathers.’ When someone asks you about a counselor for a divorced father, who are you going to remember?” To illustrate her point, she used a typical networking situation in which several individuals are introducing themselves and describing their work. Niche marketing is the opposite of mass marketing in that counselors target a specific segment of the population. When it comes to building a thriving referral base, there are two words every private practitioner’s marketing plan should include: niche and networking. |
